Breed Specific

Breed Specific

breed_bl_1In the dog world, breed, is the topic that comes up most. When you tell someone you have a dog, usually the first question asked is “what breed?” When your dog does something good, usually the first question asked is, “what breed?” When your dog something bad, usually the first question asked is, “what breed?” In fact, the general public is so concerned with the breed of the dog that is seems to be the sole purpose of why a dog does what it does. So I’m gonna join in on the bandwagon and get a little “breed specific” with all of you…

  • It was a “pit bull” who got me out of my dark hole of depression after having 6 concussions.
  • It was a “pit bull” that caught a 5 year old girl’s eye who just happened to be the daughter of the future love of my life.
  • It was a “pit bull” who was once deemed “aggressive” that became my right hand man and accompanied me to schools to teach kids about how to approach a dog and responsible pet ownership.
  • It was a “pit bull” that taught me how to look at the “dog” and not the “breed”.
  • It was a “pit bull” that led me to animal rescue.
  • It was a “pit bull” that led me to meet and learn from people like Cesar Millan and the founder of the School of Dog Psychology, Linn Boyke.
  • It was a couple of “pit bulls” who added 2 extra years to an old beagle named, Wally.
  • It was a “pit bull” that led to the creation of “iPittytheBull”.
  • And it’s because of a “pit bull” why we have made it our mission to educate, advocate and NEVER discriminate.

So if you’ve ever wondered why I love the “pit bull” so much it’s because the “pit bull” saved my life, shaped my life and ultimately made my life what it is today. The least I can do is be their voice.

This should be on billboards John. You might be too young to remember ” The Littlt Rascles.”
Pettie was a Pit, and the most loving, funny, gorgeous dog on TV. No one ever cried ” Killer, Vicious dog, or bred them for fighting!!! Yes, your life has certainly been rescued and blessed ALL BECAUSE A PIT BULL (or two or three) THAT GAVE YOU THEIR LOVE AND TOOK A CHANCE ON YOU!!!
I love your life and love your posts.

  2. I love this! I never wanted a pit bull. They had a bad reputation and honestly, it scared me. We started fostering and the last two fosters we had were pit bulls. I quickly learned how wrong I was. They are both now a part of our family. They are the best dogs we’ve ever had. I love getting to educate our family and friends about the breed. My mother-in-law used to get nervous when one of our dogs would get in my daughters face to give her kisses. Now she gets those kisses too! Thanks for all you do to educate and advocate for this breed!
