ELEKTRA – Maria Gonzalez’ Bully out of Texas!

by John Flores
Today’s blog post is from Maria Gonzalez out of Texas! She took a chance on her bully, Elektra and completely turned her life around!!
Elektra has been with me for almost 3 years, and the day I got her was probably the best thing I ever did. My family all moved to Texas, leaving me behind to finish school, so knowing no one like my mother would care for my daughter (who was around 2 years old) I let them take her to Texas.
At first I was fine, I was having spare time and lots of me time, but at the end of the day I would realize my life was just not right. My husband at the time left out of state to work so I was truly alone. I would cry and cry… I was to the point that I went into a depression. I would overeat fast foods, never cook, never clean & I wouldn’t see daylight if I didn’t have to.
Elektra was supposed to bred but she never took and she had the most expressive eyes. I just had to have her. I was so excited and I could tell she was, too! Honestly, the first days I had her I can’t say I wasn’t scared of her, she’s a very intimidating dog. But I soon realized she was so much like me. She was like another daughter to me & to her I was also like a daughter(crazy because they usually act like babies) to her. She was babying me around, following me with her little toy. When she felt I was sad SHE cried & whined! It was then when I realized I was impacting poor Elektra.
From that day on we exercised, played outside, went for walks at parks & I introduced her to my aunts & cousins…everyone loved her. When I got my daughter back I was in another state of mind thanks to Elektra. Elektra and my daughter have both loved each other since day one! To this day If I even feel a little sad she puts her head on my chest, and a paw on my lap, almost asking in her own way, if I’m ok. I can honestly say she’s been here for me since the day I got her and she definitely changed my life.
Thank you for sharing your story Maria! I know it’s not always easy to let your guard down and tell your story for the whole world to see, but I appreciate you sharing your story! Keep up the great work!!!
